Troop 1214

Troop Canoe Camping Trip – 6-8 June 2025

The camping trip in June was another long time desired camping trip for the Scouts (and Adult Scouters) – the Troop Canoe Camping trip on the Patuxent River Water Trail! The Troop ditched our usual “camping comforts” of tents, camp stoves, pop-up shelters, and the trailer, and journeyed over several miles and two days worth of canoe camping, staying on two different camp sites along the Patuxent River.  Everything they needed had to be carried in the canoes and needed to be waterproof or it would be a long, wet, hungry, and miserable camping trip!

Troop 771’s Scoutmaster worked with the Scouts on the Canoeing and Kayaking merit badges during the camping trip, including capsizing, towing, and recovering their watercraft while on the river.  For the most part the weather held out, but at least it wasn’t blazing hot.  Everyone was tired after all this exercise, fresh air, and sunshine!

Thanks to the Adults that went camping but also the ones behind the scenes that made it happen with all the logistics involved to make this trip a success!
