Troop 1214

Troop Camping Trip – 8-9 May 2026

May is typically when the Troop follows up on the Camping basics from April with the Cooking basics.  This year, the Troop incorporated that training into the camping trip in Anne Arundel County at Fort Smallwood Park.  The camping trip was cut short due to unforeseen circumstances, but the Scouts made the most of this amazing location on the water.

The Patrols had a cooking competition between them that was judged and evaluated by the Adult Scouters.  Learning to cook is a lifelong skill, and our Scouts truly leveled up this weekend! While hot dogs and hamburgers are classics, the troop went above and beyond to earn their Cooking Merit Badge. From flipping blueberry pancakes at sunrise to mastering the art of the Dutch oven, these Scouts proved that trail-side dining can be gourmet.

On the menu this weekend:

Breakfast: Fluffy Blueberry Pancakes 🥞
Lunch: “Surf & Turf” foil packs 🥩🍤
Dinner: A massive spread of Dutch oven Pizza, Chicken Parmesan, and savory Chicken and Rice 🍕🥘
The Scouts went home with bellies full and an appreciation for the hard work, patience, and creativity it takes to turn raw ingredients into a shared feast around the campfire.  Mission Accomplished!
