Troop 1214

BSA Sea Base High Adventure Trip – 26 June – 3 July 2026

This summer the Troop sent three crews out to two different High Adventure camps – Yellowstone High Adventure Outpost in Wyoming and BSA Sea Base in Florida.  The other two crews traveled south again to Scouting America’s Sea Base High Adventure base in Florida for sailing adventures this time!  They had a little bit of a break after school ended but that made the anticipation all that much more intense!

The crews flew out of BWI as well and were met at the airport in Florida by Blue Sky Adventures that transported the crews to Sea Base in Islamorada. The first part of the itinerary allowed the crews to spend their time snorkeling, paddling, and fishing. They also visited an alligator park and go to go on an airboat cruise through the wetlands! During the first part of the adventure, the Troop Scouts stayed in Sea Base’s eco tents with bunk beds and air conditioning.  What a rough life!  For the remainder of the adventure, the two crews set sail on a live-aboard adventure at sea on two separate sailboats!

A week in the Florida Keys gave these Scouts the experience of a lifetime. They lived aboard a sailboat, learned to navigate on the open water, snorkeled vibrant coral reefs, spotted incredible marine life, fished, swam, cooked their own meals, and worked together as a crew every step of the way. From breathtaking sunsets to nights under the stars, every day brought a new adventure and memories they’ll never forget.  For the Scouts that ventured to Sea Base two years ago, this was a slightly different experience that the fishing adventures or Keys adventures form last time, but it was still an amazing trip!  We even had a couple of new leaders join us on this trip!  High-adventure trips like Sea Base are just one of the many incredible opportunities Scouting offers. Whether it’s sailing the ocean, backpacking through the mountains, climbing rocks, or serving the community, Scouts build confidence, leadership, and friendships that last a lifetime.  #troop1214 #riverhawkdistrict #baltimoreareacouncil #seabaseha #scoutmein
