All throughout Summer Fun in the Summer of 2025, the Troop focused on the Fishing merit badge at multiple different locations during meetings, including Allen Pond in Bowie and Jonas and Anne Catherine Park across the river from the Naval Academy in Annapolis. We culminated our fishing adventures with our September camping trip in Western Maryland at Swallow Falls State Park.
Troop 1214 made memories that weekend with a hike to Maryland’s largest waterfall, where they were able to cast their lines at the gorgeous Swallow Falls. No fish were harmed during this trip (not sure how many Scouts even hooked one this time)! All of that hiking in the fresh air and the “hardship” of fishing in such a beautiful location worked up a huge appetite for all involved. This trip, one of the Adult Scouters brought some extra cooking gear – his portable pizza oven – and he treated the Troop to some homemade pizzas at the campsite. What a way to end an amazing day in nature!
